Visited the scenic Ironhorse campsite – great for boating. Water Activities: The vast lake's mild waves can make shallow areas muddy. For clear water swimming, kayak deeper in. Boat Rentals: Government-operated rentals aren't cheap – kayaks at $80 all-day; boats $600. Parking: Day-picnickers pay $8 parking. Campers included. Campsite: Pet-friendly. Fine soil means tents need cleaning. Restrooms are clean. Beware of abundant burrs for pet owners. Temperature swings from 104°F day to 50°F night; pack accordingly. Nearby: 'Angels Camp Town' (15-min drive) has old Western-style buildings, cheaper kayak rentals, and a supermarket for supplies.

It’s a very beautiful place, with big and clean restrooms( shower with quarter). We were here last week of July, and saw the amazing sunset! But, too noisy in the morning due to birds tweets.

The store on the campsite was closed for the season (we weren't aware). The lake is not in walking distance of the camp site and a bit if a drive...Couldn't find a reception area for kids to play at a beach area. However we had a great camping spot and lots of family fun! I think this campsite is better suited for RVs and Trailers...not so much tent camping. But we had a great time overall :)

We usually come here late in the year. The boat ramp situation is sketchy if the water level is down, you really should have 4x4. This year the water level is about as good as I’ve seen it so super nice launch area. Camping is always good and it’s near Angels Camp so if you need something from town, it’s easy but you still feel like you’re out in nature. Quiet time is 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. That means no music or generators. I feel like a 7:00 AM start time would be more reasonable, particularly for folks with RV camping since most people would want coffee and or breakfast before 8 and might need a generator for that.

Camped at iron horse loop. Good campsites and clean restrooms and showers. Lot of rocks in the campsite. Don’t forget to take your hammer if you are using tents. Gets too hot in summer and the shade is not enough if it’s too hot. Can swim in lake.. This was the best part on hot day.

Campgrounds here are really great. Pet friendly. Bathroom is nearby and well-maintained. Campgrounds are right next to the lake, so could be little windy at nights. Many people bring or rent speedboats and ride in the lake. Wasn't too great for swinming. Sunset wasn't too great due to hills blocking the Sun.

Bueatiful lake. A bit of a hike from campgrounds to get to the lake. Most restrooms were closed although they state there are 'showers'. To pay to launch your boat, payment center is at entrance of lake, not at luanch ramp.... Silly... Boat ramp is very nice, large, wide, plenty of room. Water temp was 75 in late June. Lake can get pretty windy while on the water, not bad at the campgrounds. Fishing is decent. Alot of stickers and such if you have dogs.
